I was shocked when the Oklahoma football team unveiled their anthracite uniforms in honor of former running back Dr. Prentice Gott.
I didn’t expect this to happen. I never thought the Oklahoma forerunners would dare to wear colors other than crimson and cream. Thank goodness they did.
These are clean.
I love them. I love the charcoal black color. I love helmets. I like red numbers. Most importantly, I love the story behind the uniform.

Nike Football rolled out special uniforms for Oklahoma’s game against Texas on Monday.
Both teams’ jerseys will feature a classic gold Red River confrontation patch above the front numbers, which are outlined in gold twill.
On the inside of the jersey neckline can be found custom “Boomer” embroidery for OU and “Longhorn” custom for Texas.
The Suna team’s jersey also features an additional gold emblem to commemorate last year’s victory, as the Suna team retains the Golden Cap trophy.
On Monday, OU coach Bob Stoops said discussions started last year about how to make some special uniforms for games and that could happen again this season.
