Former Cardinals coach Wilkes to join Panthers

Former Cardinals coach Steve Wilks will join the Panthers coaching staff as pass defense coordinator and second-line coach, according to ESPN reporters on Wednesday.
Wilkes also previously interviewed for the Giants defensive coordinator position, but that position has likely gone to Don Martindale.
Wilkes was the defensive coordinator at the University of Missouri last season. He was second-line coach with the Panthers from 2012-2016 and was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2017. A year later, Wilks was hired by the Cardinals, but was fired after just one year in charge. He served as the Browns defensive coordinator during the 2019 season.
Panthers coach Matt Rhule has added a number of seasoned members to his coaching staff, including defensive line coach Paul Pasqualoni, offensive line coach James Campen ) and offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo.
